2nd Birthday Celebration
Lyall Bay TKD turned 2 years old on July 21st.
With gradings around that time and it falling during school holidays however, it was decided to wait until after the gradings to celebrate.
As such, we’ll be celebrating at club on Tuesday August 23rd. This will be a combined class with Mini-kids, Juniors & Seniors from 6-7:30 pm. There will be pizza and cake as well as some glow in the dark fun!
Parents and siblings are all welcome to join us.
Gradings
Congratulations to all of our Gup students that graded last week. It’s great to see some new colours within the club, particularly our new green belts. For those that missed out, there will be another chance in the coming weeks. I’ll have more information closer to the time.
Next up is our mini-kids turn with their grading being held next Tuesday, August 16th from 6pm.
Apologies to all if we run past 7 o’clock. It may also mean that our junior/senior class starts a little late that night too.
NZ Nationals Wellington
The New Zealand nationals are being held next weekend on both Saturday and Sunday (20th & 21st) at the Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua. This is the first time they have been hosted by the Wellington region in a number of years. Mr Meek has even been persuaded to enter so get along and check out the action.

National Camps
Kids Camp
There are 2 national camps coming up over the next 6 months.
The first is the national kids camp on 25-27 November up near Tauranga. More information is still to be confirmed but it’s usually aimed at kids aged 8-15 years old so keep your calendar free for this event as it’s always a great, fun weekend and it’s the first one we’ve had several years.

National Summer Camp
The second camp is over Waitangi weekend and is more TKD focused. While children under 10 can also attend with a parent, it’s more centered around training and will be taken by many of our Masters and Grand-Masters.
This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to take their training to the next level and given that the last one was 4 years ago, it may be some time before this opportunity comes around again.
Mr Meek will also be grading for 5th Dan at the camp so if you do attend, you can come and support your instructor!

New student attendance tool
With so many students to keep track of and trying to establish who and hasn’t attended sufficient lessons for gradings etc, I’ve found that our orgnaisation iTKD provides a tool to log student attendance into the national database.
Going forward, I’ll be using this to report on student attendance so make sure you’re getting along to as many classes as possible if you’re wanting to grade in the future.
